+255772048328Lugala College of Health and Allied Sciences (LUCHAS) began in 1989 as a Preparatory School of Nursing (LPSN), offering a one-year pre-nursing programme. This programme continued until 2009, when Tanzania's Ministry of Health (MoH) discontinued one-year pre-nursing programmes nationwide. The decision was based on concern that such programmes did not provide participants with a sufficiently clear professional progression pathway. At Lugala, only a limited number of students were Form IV leavers, even though Form IV was the standard entry requirement for the lowest level of nursing education. As a result, only a small number of students were able to progress into formal nursing training.

Entry requirement: Certificate of Secondary Education with four passes in non-religious subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, and English.Students develop diagnostic reasoning, treatment support knowledge, and clinical confidence through guided instruction and practical experience.
